National Australia Bank: I created copy for the NAB’s 150th anniversary booklet, which was based on interviews with staff and in-house materials. The 64-page booklet was distributed in print and online to thousands of customers and business clients.
Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre: A 60-page booklet was created to commemorate Spectrum’s 25th year of amazing community work. I interviewed Spectrum’s project managers, migrants and refugees to create a number of case studies, articles and blurbs. The booklet was launched at Parliament House in 2010.
Blick Creative: Blick’s relaunched website needed to reflect their increasing focus on web development (as well as their existing graphic design and marketing focus) with a responsive design. I worked on dozens of new pages, incorporated organic SEO, reworked existing copy, and interviewed staff for new profiles.
Laerdal Australia: The HeartStart Times and SUN eNewsletters are produced quarterly and distributed by Laerdal Australia to over 15,000 health professionals around Australia and New Zealand. I interview health and medical specialists and translate complex technical information into enjoyable news items and blurbs.
Rubiix: A business accountancy firm wanted to refresh their brand and launch a new website, materials and business name. I wrote an 8-page positioning and naming document, taking into consideration the firm’s history, staff, and their unique approach to forging client relationships. The name search encompassed etymology, synonyms, mythology, technology and mathematics.
The Big Apple: With town planning, leasing, and building underway on this new art warehouse space in Northcote, it was vital to create a clear business plan to communicate with interested stakeholders, including local councils, arts organisations and lawyers. I helped create a 44-page strategy document, which encompassed marketing, risk management, financials and SWOT analyses and action plans.
Birds Australia (now BirdLife Australia): As production editor of the quarterly membership magazine Wingspan I produced nine 64-page magazines and five supplements. I oversaw the publications strategy, managed staff, interns and volunteers and coordinated busy production timelines. I developed all processes and procedures for my team and managed the quarterly budget and cashflow.
In 2010 I refreshed the layout and content of Wingspan, which had been produced with the same design for 13 years. The magazine was awarded the ‘Best Book in the Periodical Category’ award from the Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales at the 2012 Whitley Book Awards.
University of Melbourne: I worked on the 2012 University of Melbourne Graduate Prospectus as copy editor. This job required a thorough scan through thousands of lists, tables and footnotes – as well as a very quick turnaround.
